Auditory Processing
If you are having difficulty understanding speech when there is background noise, you often mishear spoken information, or you seem unusually fatigued after conversations, you may want to visit us for an auditory processing evaluation.
The symptoms of auditory processing difficulties seem similar to hearing loss. Those with auditory processing difficulties may experience typical signs of hearing loss, however they have relatively normal hearing. At Valley Hearing Center, our audiologist is an expert in hearing disorders and can test your word recognition ability and speech comprehension. We will work with you to find a solution to help you hear better in crowded environments.
Tinnitus Treatment
Tinnitus is the perception of sound in your head or ears. Many describe the symptoms of tinnitus as hearing a ringing, buzzing, hissing, or whistling sound. Tinnitus affects millions of people. Some experience it on a temporary basis, for only a few seconds, while others may experience it constantly. Tinnitus itself is not a disease, but rather a symptom of another issue. Tinnitus can be caused by:
- Hearing loss
- Loud noise exposure
- Toxic medications
- Earwax build-up
- Head or neck injury
- Meniere’s disease
Pediatric Audiology
Hearing loss in children is incredibly common, in fact, approximately 1 in every 1,000 children are born with hearing loss. For your child’s development, it’s best to manage hearing loss right away with hearing devices. If your child has been diagnosed with hearing loss, we offer pediatric hearing aids that are specifically designed for their small yet growing ears.
At Valley Hearing Center, we can dispense pediatric hearing aids, fit and fine-tune them, and provide regular maintenance checks on your child’s devices. Be proactive about your child’s hearing by scheduling an appointment to go over options for hearing aids.
Hearing Aid Services
Hearing Aid Evaluations: After we’ve evaluated your hearing, we will recommend a pair of hearing aids that will be most helpful for your unique hearing needs and lifestyle. We work with many different major manufacturers to offer a wide range of hearing aids.
Hearing Aid Repair Services: We can make minor repairs on any make or model of hearing aid in any of our office locations. If something isn’t working right with your hearing aids, bring them in. We can make adjustments, clean them, and replace certain parts to ensure they are working their best for you.
Hearing Aid Cleanings: We suggest bringing your hearing aids in every six months for a professional cleaning. Dust, dirt, and earwax can build up in the tiny components of your hearing aids, so it’s important to bring your devices in for a deep cleaning.
Live Speech Mapping: Live speech mapping is a hearing aid verification method used to ensure your hearing aids are programmed for your individual needs. When programming and fitting your hearing aids, we will ensure they are providing you with just the right amplification to help you hear better.
Industrial Hearing Screening
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has enacted requirements and procedures for hearing conservation in an effort to standardize hearing safety practices an reduce the incidence of preventable hearing damage.
At Valley Hearing Center, we provide comprehensive hearing screenings to industrial workers. We also carry earplugs for hearing protection. It is important if you work in a factory or another noisy environment to protect your hearing. If you are a worker interested in a hearing screening, or in custom hearing protection, please contact us.
