May is a great time of year for many reasons–the rain has died down, the sun is shining and summer is right around the corner! But did you know that May is also Better Hearing Month? We hope you have taken this opportunity to educate and inform your friends and loved ones as well as yourselves!

Below are some vital hearing loss facts for those who do wear hearing devices as well as those who do not:

    • 1 in 3 people over the age of 60 have hearing loss
    • 1 in 2 people over the age of 85 have hearing loss
    • Untreated hearing loss can lead to depression, anxiety, paranoia, and poor social relationships
    • Hearing aids can improve cognitive function in those with hearing loss
    • Approximately 36 million Americans suffer from hearing loss
    • More than half of the people with hearing loss are younger than 65!

These facts are only the beginning of the wealth of knowledge that exists about hearing loss and the importance of taking care of hearing loss if symptoms begin to arise.
